Overview: The chemical plant had been using galvanised steel grating, which needed to be repainted, repaired and replaced every year, resulting in high maintenance costs. Need to find corrosion resistance, low maintenance costs, easy to install, cost-effective products instead of galvanised steel grating.
Problem
Chemical plant staircases are often exposed to corrosive environments, and traditional stainless steel staircases and galvanised steel staircases suffer corrosion and wear and tear over a long period of time. Regular maintenance and replacement is required, which is time-consuming and labour-intensive
- Corrosion-resistant: the number of repairs can be greatly reduced, thus saving time and money.
- Anti-slip: as factory stairs are not in use all the time, long-term corrosion and wear and tear will increase the risk of employees working, therefore, anti-slip surface is the key to installation. Whereas traditional materials use temporary thick gripping tape on each staircase to prevent slipping, Tianfu New Material's fibreglass reinforced plastic (FRP) grating provides a non-slip surface that remains safe even when wet.
Solution
As the stairs are serviced annually, this application required low maintenance and a long lifespan. Therefore, FRP gratings were the best choice for this project. These FRP gratings provide a solid, non-slip staircase while the existing structure is still intact, helping the client save time and money on the installation process and maintenance. The factory used the standard colours of dark grey and a more striking yellow for the stairs.
